I run the unstable verion of Darktable (from Pascal's PPA - version
1.5+2075~g09042e3). I usually open the folder with the RAW files (in an SD
or CF card) in Darktable, select the keepers by rating them with 2 or more
stars and copy the keepers to a folder in an external HD (using Darktable).
This is more or less how I do it:

I have never had a problem with that until two days ago (last Saturday),
when I opened in Lighttable a folder with approximately 400 NEF files.
First, Darktable crashed a few times when I was rating the photos (with
starts). Then, some of the copied RAW files were corrupted and all RAW
files vanished from the memory card. (I am quite sure I did not select
"move".) I was terribly upset by that and I cannot reproduce what happened.
I thought I had done something stupid until I saw Francesco's message (see
below).

I understand that there are risks involved in using an unstable version of
the software. Some people, however, opt for using such a version even at
risk because the stable version is not updated frequently. That leads me to
the following question: Is there a timetable for the stable DT releases? Is
it possible to release minor updates to the stable releases more frequently
(bug fixes, support for new cameras etc.)?

Thanks.

Best, Francisco

Subject: [Darktable-users] Image deletion !!

Hi,

I am using darktable 1.5+2049~g685a5f7 : today I finished
two images and ( as per workflow ) used DT to move the raws
( at separate times ) to this months "Keepers" folder. I
have now opened the "Keepers" folder in both DT and a file
manager and the images are missing. Neither are they in
their original source folders. I maximise images before
moving ( alt-1 ) as failure to do so usually results in the
wrong image being moved. Wrong one moved I can live with
but image deletion is a bit of a disaster.

Any thoughts ?

Regards,

Francesco
