I have no problem if I tell digikam to use only sidecar files to store them; never tried in-file properties (I prefer having untouched RAW files). I have to say that the lighttable function of digikam is quite nice, and the rating really fast (I still am struggling to write a lua script that apply the ratings to all the file of a group).
