Arrrgh, yes, after trying the lens correction iop on some long-end-of-the-lens 
images that actually needed the auto-scale, I see that it does very nicely 
apply itself upon enabling the module. It never did that before when I had to 
select the lens manually, so I didn't realize it was going to work that way... 
which makes it an even better improvement than I initially thought, so thanks 
again! Also, after more experiments, I found that for other modules, activating 
an option in the module *does* implicitly enable the module, so my assumptions 
were unfounded. Sorry for the noise.
