What you can do, when working near the end of the spectrum, is to first shuffle 
a marker (or two) out of  the way to the end then specify the transformation 
with the remaining markers.  This lets you then do an additional adjustment 
with that 'reserved' marker without having to redo the whole curve - I find 
this method  particularly  useful for  just dragging  in that extra marker and 
thereby steepening the curve at the spectrum end which otherwise you couldn't 
do.

I hate to sound greedy, but I also sometimes find myself wishing for *just one 
more*, or even to be able to steal one from one end of the spectrum and use it 
somewhere else, without having to do the whole curve over again...
