I see the same problem with 1.6.0 and PEF files from my old Pentax *ist DS. I tried your suggestion of modifying cameras.xml, changing the *ist DL to *ist DS, but the PEF files are still not available - when I try to open one, Darktable puts up a message saying "Image 'IMGP1901.PEF' is not available!".
