I created that basecurve for my camera (Fujifilm X100S) using 14 RAW and
JPG images. The script I generated can be obtained from

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2171814/fujifilm-x100s.sh

The collected data is at

I got in touch with Dan Torop on July 22, 2014 about that basecurve since
he was doing most of the X-Trans DT development. His reply: "I tried out
the curve you sent, and it does look good. Have you been able to use the
X100S basecurve which I made already? If you click the "hamburger" menu of
basecurve, you should see "Fujifilm X100S" at the top of the pop-up menu. I
think your curve looks better in the highlights, though. If you think so as
well, you or I could submit a pull request for the change?" I have then
been using the basecurve I generated ever since. Should I stop doing so?

David Vincent-Jones: "Secondly the 'tone curve' is what I would call very
non-standard." I use such a tone curve (a variant of that, actually) in a
vintage style that I developed. In vintage processing it is typical, I
believe, to raise the lower point and to lower the upper point of the tone
curve. (It can be a straight line or have some curvature.) I do that all
the time with my Nikon D800 RAW files and never noticed artifacts.

BTW, when I use the Fuji X100S I still notice some color artifacts on her
shoes.

I agree with that finding.

I think the main issue is the basecurve. When I select the standard X100S
basecurve for your picture I can even apply your weird tone curve and the
dark blue colors still look ok.

Any reason why you are using a non standard basecurve?
