That's not surprising, because that one is mimicking the Canon "Standard" JPG 
style out of the 
camera, which is definitely more contrasty than a flatter RAW (which is what DT 
normally aims for).

Thanks for your impressions.  I guess it depends what your subject is because I 
noticed quite a 
strong change in the deep blues.

I'm thinking this .icc sounds like a good option for replacing the built-in 
enhanced colour matrix, 
though I understand that the dt devs are actually going to be changing the 
default matrix back to 
the standard color matrix, at least in master, so I'm not sure this one will 
ever make it into dt.
