I want to chime in, because I'm in the same boat. I'm a Lightroom
user and want to switch to DT, but it's very difficult

Here's my LR workflow:

1. Use Corel ASP to delete the out of focus and rename the files to
dogs-vancouver-YYYYMMDD-9999.cr2/.raf With YYYYMMDD from the EXIF
and the 9999 from the IMG counter.
2. Import the images into LR with 1:1 previews with the copyright notice...
3. Select the one that I like by moving them to a collection
4. Crop, fix exposure, black, white, clarity...
5. Add the title/heading and description (text for the website)
6. Add them to the Publish > Hard drive > Website collection
7. Export only the changed images that need to be exported
8. Go back to the Website collection and mark it as RED as actually
used on the website.

Now in DT, I still need:
1.
2. Most XMP copyright fields are missing, no idea how to add them
3. Assign: collection | Website
4.
5. Can only assign very few of the IPTC
6. No step 6
7. No publish, need to export everything which takes a long while. No
watermark in the export. Need to do it at the step 4? 8.

I am not married to these step and I'm willing to change but I need
similar results.

DT does an excellent raw processing, may even better then LR (I'm
still learning, aka struggling)... I do see the DT potential

You are saying to use another DAM, what do you suggest? I'm on xUbuntu
14.04.

I have tried Digikam, it doesn't work well on Ubuntu: the libraw is
very old and gets updated by KDE according to somebody on their
mailing list.

XnViewMP doesn't do the IPTCs for any raw format.
