Hi,

Keep in mind, that not all the RAM of graphics card is available for
OpenCL. E.g. I hava a Padeon R9 270X which is advertised with 4GB, but
only 3GB can be used.
More RAM will definitely give you a performance boost if you are
currently at 1GB. DT has to split the image into several parts (called
tiles) and process them consecutively. With more RAM, you can gain a
performance boost, as fewer tiles are needed. Processing a bigger tile
is not twice slower than two small ones, as the graphics cards are
performing parallelization.

I can't say if it is worthwhile for you to upgrade, that's a personal
thing :)
