Hi, I have this same problem, a Notebook with Intel i915 GA and nVidia 940M GA. But I can't disable the i915 in BIOS.
I use LinuxMint 17 with mamarley/nvidia-ppa, the normal ubuntu-nvidia lets frozen the desktop if I use the touchpad Unfortunately am I not an expert in in affairs like graphic and his driver. If I tray to lauch Darktable and the massages is like "X server found. dri2 connection failed! " -> crash the start of DT, but I think this is not the reason of this problem. The reasons seems any permitts to be. If I start Darktable as user root, I get the same message and Darktable starts. But I don't have in this moment openCL support. Now, I start AfterShotPro2 as user root, I can switch in the openCL settings betwen an INTEL and a NVIDIA source. If I switch to the NVIDIA source in AfterShotPro then I have also this openCL support in Darktable...!? Maybe for this is there an another way possible? But what can I do to use Darktable as normaly user by nvidia graphic? A setfacl /dev/nvidia* is not enough.
