Hard coded means that there is not even a dirty hack to change the icon
(without recompiling)? What about lua?

I'm not a programmer, so please correct me if I got something wrong:

I guess I found the definition in mipmap_cache.c? If I stick to 8x8
binary images, could I just replace the definitions and compile dt
myself (not that I could do it easily, maybe with a lot of time)?
Couldn't that definition be read from a config file instead of being
hard coded?

Sticking to 8x8 and 1 bit I would consider the following icons possible
replacements:

ooXXXXoo
oXooooXo
XooooXoX
XoooXooX General forbidden sign, read "something forbidden happened"
XooXoooX
XoXooooX
oXooooXo
ooXXXXoo

ooXXXXXo
oXoooooX
ooooooXo
oooooXoo Questionmark, read "don't know what happened to the pic"
ooooXooo
ooooXooo
oooooooo
ooooXooo

ooXXXXoo
oXooooXo
XoXooXoX
XooooooX Frowny v1
XooXXooX
XoXooXoX
oXooooXo
ooXXXXoo

oXXXXXXo
XooooooX
XoXooXoX
XooooooX Frowny v2
XooXXooX
XoXooXoX
XooooooX
oXXXXXXo

ooXXXXXo
oXoXoooX
oooXooXo
oooXoXoo Interrobang
oooXXooo
oooXoooo
oooooooo
oooXoooo

That one would be funny, but I was not able to recreate it in 8x8 1 bit:

forbidden).

Anyway, thanks and best regards

Chris
