First off, probably my error.

Shot a wedding in Nashville Indiana last weekend. Nice day, slightly
overcast, GREAT lighting until the end. Couple coming up the aisle and
he dips her for a great kiss,,,, and a ray of light shot through and hit
one of the mothers square in the face the instant I snapped. Perfect
picture except one thing. If I ramp up the exposure for the couple the
mother's face hit by the "Laser light" sun beam gets blown out. No
problem, drawn mask on exposure covering the mothers face (Darktable is
amazing by the way). No go. Tried single instance (mask
face/head/shoulders), I can increase under the mask but when I invert
the mask the whole image gets the increase and I'm back to the original
problem. Multiple instances seems to have the same issue for me.

Like I said, it's probably me not using something correctly but this one
thing would make this image. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
