I don't consider autolevel to be a good choice, as it (more than) often

results in bad exposure values.

The photos then get not enough or too much exposed.

> contrast' or 'Linear'.
In every case I tested, Linear does nothing visible, and though

average seems the best choice, it modifies exposure to over-expose.

So one has to readjust exposure afterwards.

High contrast over-over-over-exposes and low contrast gives too flat results.

WB... there are cases where setting it to spot as the whole gives very good

results, there are others where I have to pick the reference area, but most

of the time I leave it to camera.

I still can't really understant the way this is intended to work... time for a
new

post, I guess...

My own used modules are :

White Balance set to camera default : always

Demosaicing : Amaze : always

Exposure : manually adjusted together with under-/overeposure view activated :
always

Basecurve : Nikon-like : always

Crop and rotate : if needed

Highlight and shadow recovery : default settings : always

Lens correction : with supported lenses

Local contrast : average: sometimes - but, once again, I then have to decrease
exposure

Orientation is automatic, so no need to bother with this

In some rare cases, I also use Denoise (Profiled)

Oh ! and - I almost forgot this - Monochrome set to darken when I need to deal
with too heavy highlights.

Regards,

J.-L.
