yes, reference only. we don't impose a particular data layout on disk
on you, you're free to organise your pictures which ever way you want
in the physical folder layout (and do that with different tools if you
want).

no, we never write your raw files or any input images for that matter.
all information will end up in the accompanying xmp files (and the
db).
