As Pedro has already pointed out, modern zooms tend to produce black
corners at short focal lengths.  They do so because at the same
time, they heavily distort, and if you remove this distortion, the
black corners vanish as well.

The digiKam image has been already corrected, and the DT image not.

digiKam corrects distortion and crops so that no black fringe
appear.  The correction formula of Lensfun assures that the image
size remains the same then, assuming that the aspect ratio is
supposed to be kept.
