Hi, Ignore if you are not using beagle on FC6. > Beagle used to work fine for me on FC5, but after updating to FC6 ... > beagled hangs after some time ~5-10 minutes so that I can't search the > indexes and beagle-status simply hangs to. > It seems that I am not the only one who have this problem: > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212370 For anyone using beagle on FC6 and seeing the above hang, I checked the FC6 patches for beagle and found an xlib patch which might be causing the problem. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212370#c20 explains the situation in little more detail. In short the hang doesnt happen in the actual 0.2.10 release but by an FC6 patch which tries to smartly detect X disconnection. (beagle monitors Xscreensaver to tune up the speed of indexing). If you are experiencing the hang, please unset the environment variable DISPLAY for the time being.
- dBera PS: I dont understand xlib that good but the patch seemed to have a good intent. If they find a better solution than regular polling then it makes sense to patch it upstream. -- ----------------------------------------------------- Debajyoti Bera @ http://dtecht.blogspot.com beagle / KDE fan Mandriva / Inspiron-1100 user _______________________________________________ Dashboard-hackers mailing list Dashboard-hackers@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/dashboard-hackers
