I wrote a Paradox App (I used to use dBASE), and found the performance
and data corruption problems roughly the same between them.

With my Paradox app there was a huge difference in corruptions between
sites - some had no corruption, other had it every few weeks.

After replacing the database servers with NT Server (rather than 95) in
trouble sites most data corruption went away. I don't believe NT is
faster, but it is definitly more stable than 95/98.

Havn't tried Linux yet as a server :-)

One final point : Paradox seems to have trouble with large numbers of
changes occuring at the same time - this is rather subjective however,
as I can't duplicate a problem reliably with it.
