I was just wondering, it was mentioned that the ADO components for D5 will
be sold as an add-on, will these ADO comps work in D4 at all, or has the
whole database object structure and everything changed again?
I think alot of D4 users would be very happy if these ADO comps would work
in D4 and not just D5... any ideas?

<wow - a message coming in on the DB list>
I posted fairly detailed results from my testing various ODBC components
with Access & SQLServer last year. Basically the results were:
1) BDE - way too slow to be useable
2) ODBCExpress - thin layer meant it was fast but you had to learn the
details of ODBC
3) Adonis - seemed nice & simple and fast. Was not able to determine if
it had all the required features and may have had some bugs but I liked
it a lot.
