I'd look at something like the ASTA Server technology. (www.astatech.com).
You can do pretty much anything with this via TCP/IP very easily.

Subject: [DUG-DB]: Database access through an extranet?

I'd be grateful for some advice on database access through an extranet.

We have a document management system (developed in Delphi 5) that
creates Word, Excel, and Autocad files and uses a database residing on a
local area network server to store filenames, dates, descriptions, etc.

We have a request from one of our offices to modify the program to
operate through an extranet. I envisage that the database will reside on
the extranet server, and the program will act as a local client to
display query results and append new data to the database. Is this sort
of thing possible with Delphi? If so, where could I start researching
how to go about it?

Regards
