Hehe, I think you're just joking but I've been asked that a few times. :) So officially, there are no plans to merge DataMapper and ActiveRecord. It's the same as expecting jQuery and Prototype to merge because Merb and Rails use those as their default JavaScript frameworks. Sure, there's alot of cross pollination between Merb and DM, but they aren't tightly coupled at all. However, I could see there being a collaboration with the AR guys on DO. I haven't even spoken to anyone officially about it, but it would be really cool to share the same database drivers underneath. AR would get a fast, consistent API that works with it's 3 most popular DBs, and DO would get the huge AR community to spur development of new DO drivers.
