Hi, found out, with Dan Kubb's patient help, that the dataobjects gems on RubyForge were missing a jar file which stopped them working in JRuby.
Now have a working installation but was never able to compile do_sqlite3 on JRuby locally. Am under a hectic deadline so having it now working is enough for the moment but will likely revisit the compilation problems when things quieten down a bit.
