The do-foo-adapter naming convention was intended for 1.0, but I didn't realize it wasn't being enforced. I refactored some of that code to raise better exceptions when stuff like DO or other C extensions don't compile, and I guess through that process it became a strong rule, rather than a weak recommendation.
