Hi, Census now houses its entire repository of data (1991 onwards) here<http://www.censusindia.gov.in/DigitalLibrary/Archive_home.aspx>. You can get the district level data from the Primary Census Abstract (PCA). I have compiled the entire dataset onto a Stata datafile. I can send you the data.
