Came across this article about how a startup created an addressing scheme for slums in Brazil - http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-mailman-mapping-brazils-largest-favela-by-hand and built a mail delivery service around it.
Just for the record - I don't agree to the fact that they have their data and processes closed and also that they refused to share it with Google. But something to think about. Cheers, Sajjad.
