You can check out the USGS Hydrosheds website. Click the link for data 
download on the left panel
http://hydrosheds.cr.usgs.gov/index.php
They have basin shape files for each continent.
The shapefile for India looks something like this.
It shows the major river basins well, but not many of the sub-basins and 
this is particularly relevant for N and NE India, where it appears as 
though the Ganga and Brahmaputra are just one basin
