Hello fellow Datameeters,
I just returned from a weekend trip
to Mahabaleshwar. Since then I have been wondering what wold have happened
to Mahabaleshwar as a hill station if there was massive, unrelenting
garbage burning happening there. Would anyone choose to go there for a
weekend?

Why do we need to endure the toxic smoke emanating from all the garbage
being dumped in Pune? Don't we/aren't we supposed to have a right to clean
air or some law stating something similar? If we do we may able be able to
sue PMC as well I guess.

However, short of that, could we use the technology at our disposal to
generate more awareness about the problem and fix accountability? Something
like a Ushahidi garbage burning map on a daily basis combined with daily
Pune air quality data?

I believe this is a big enough problem for Datameet Pune to get involved
in.

Please contribute your ideas.

Thanks and looking forward to a collective solution.

Warm Regards,

Chetan Pinto
