I am seeking data on current and former members of Indian parliament.
I am a health economist at the University of Melbourne.
I am currently undertaking some research regarding the life expectancy of
politicians relative to the general population. This is part of international
data collection effort. The aim of this work is to compare the rate of
mortality of politicians in various countries with their respective
populations.
We currently have data from 15 other countries and in total we aim to collect
data from over 100 countries. At this point we have information on over 70, 000
politicians spanning some 3 centuries. For almost all countries we have
information on gender, date of birth, date of death, party, date they enter
parliament et cetera.
We would really like to compare trends in mortality of Indian politicians
against the other countries. Beyond the headline results i.e. whether
politicians live longer, it may provide insight into trends in health
inequalities for those who generally have higher incomes (politicians) and the
general community.
Therefore, we would like data on Indian politicians also. Ideally we need the
data in an aggregated/workable form (excel file) for data analysis. We require
the following variables:
• Name
• Gender
• DOB
• DOD
• Party
• Date entered parliament
• Date exited/finished parliament
