Since you are talking about COASTAL DEM I think it will look good only when it includes Bathymetry data also.
The best or rather the only source (i know of ) of Bathymetry data is GEBCO ... https://www.gebco.net/data_and_products/gridded_bathymetry_data/ It includes land data also.
