Also, it looks like data layout supporting spatial queries has landed <https://github.com/opengeospatial/geoparquet/issues/13> into the geoparquet spec and the writing code is in GDAL.
So, at a future date I might update and provide geoparquet versions of the data and a version of the corresponding <https://github.com/OvertureMaps/io-site> tooling <https://github.com/OvertureMaps/overturemaps-py> from Overture to make pulling based on a spatial filter possible. Not anytime soon though. If anyone has time they can/should have a go at it.
