Hi all, Survey Of India has released 1:25k scale maps for most of the North and North East of india. These were prepared for the Department of Water Resources River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (DOWR RD & GR) under the National Hydrology project.
The files themselves can be accessed from https://onlinemaps.surveyofindia.gov.in/Digital_Product_Show.aspx ( Pick "Survey Of India projects" radio button ). I have made it "easier" to access them by hosting them here <https://github.com/ramSeraph/india_topo_maps/releases/tag/25k-nhp-orig>. You can preview what is available here <https://indianopenmaps.fly.dev/soi/25k/nhp/rasterview>. The interesting part about these is that they have 3m - 5m contour data for a lot of places and given the pdfs are vector based.. It should be possible to extract the contour information from them with some effort( the contours and the contour labels can be extracted as separate layers, then you will need to write the code to match the labels to the lines and connect the gaps in the contours left by the labels ). This might be useful for people doing Flood Risk Assessments. So.. Good Luck :) Thanks, Sreeram K -- Datameet is a community of Data Science enthusiasts in India.
