Thank you maxime, the problem is if a user strips off the &tmplt=s.php the CGI 
will error since the template does not exsist, and cosmetic reasons as well :) 
i guess the same reason as running search.cgi as just search. 

The other question i had was is how to execute <!--#virtual="ads.php"--> in the 
search.htm if a hardcode can not be done to change the template to search.php 
which i think does not matter as the search.cgi parses the template which in 
short code such as a include does not get executed as apache/webserver does not 
actually execute the *.htm. 

What i am trying to do basicly is get ads.php to execute in search.htm so i can 
spew keyword relevant ads ( like google ) down the side.
