Subject: Too many open files using last snapshot 4.46
Hello,
I decided to open another thread because the old one was mostly concerning RSS
template problems which are solved now.
So following all my problems after updating from 4.42 to 4.46 (cached and
searchd hanging)
I got some new error messages in my logs (logging under LogLevel 5):
in Apache logs:
Mar 31 01:55:02 natx search.cgi[15448]: {00} search.cgi started with

in DPS log:
Mar 31 01:55:02 natx searchd[17629]: {00} DpsTrackSearchd: couldn't open track
file (/home/var/track.0.0.1175298902) for writing: Too many open files

I know that "too many open files" is rather OS related but I cannot understand
why everything
has changed when updating to the last snapshopt while my database size is
almost identical ?
For the moment I have increased the numbers in file-max kernel file hoping this
will solve my problems ? (I was already very high before on my RedHat; more
than 100000 files open)
Are the new versions of deamons (searchd and cached) opening more files than
before ?
Also could you please confirm if I can stop safely my stored deamon (stupid
question ?)
as I don't use explicit "DoStore yes" command anyway in other deamons
configurations ?
Thanks for any new ideas.
Adam
