Hi Brian,
Thanks for the tip about survey response instances - the test str I sent
recently was very simplified just to test out Radio Buttons, the survey
database is a bit more complex!

Michael

Hi Michael,
Glad you have got something working, I don't have DPMouse so I can't
see how it all works...
I like the way you have used the formula as the field name in the
supporting GZ::H fields, I have always invented names for my fields.
You often find you have supporting fields which do not neccessarily
hold anything of particular interest and showing the formula of
fragment of the formula rather than an invented name makes working
with the panel a lot easier. Thanks for that tip.

PS. Just a note, the results of your survey response instance should
really take one byte for the result plus the identifier, Responseid
question number etc (which you have allowed 20 bytes -A20). But the
total of that panel is 68 bytes per record, so there is 40+ bytes in
overhead. Given that each record will be one response instance for
one response, if your survey has lots of questions and lot of
responders and you retain the results of many surveys, then the file
size could get quite large. If this is an issue you might like to try
to reduce the GZ::H fields down to a U1 field and use apply.formats,
converts in the formula. In my first surveying system, I overspecified
fields and within the first couple of months of operation I had nearly
250Mb of response instances (plus the index which was nearly the same)
which I paired back from about 64 bytes per record to about 10 bytes,
and found the resports with the statistical calcs ran a lot faster

This attached STR is as far as I have got with "Radio Buttons", other
things are demanding my time right now!.
They are still not proper Radio Buttons but, using DPMouse & a
scattering of ASCII 249's, only one selection is allowed, after that the
other check boxes are unavailable although unchecking the checked box
brings them back again.

Michael
