Charlie, If you're looking at doing a mass mailout and you're trying to get the reduced price, have you looked at the NetPost service offered by the postal service itself? They will print, sort, and mail your mass-mailout for you, and very economically too.
I was periodically sending out a mailing of about 1200-1500 items in double window envelopes. I was using double window envelopes so I wouldn't have to print letters and envelopes too. I put the addresses on the letters so they would show through the envelope windows when folded correctly. It took a long time to print all the letters and fold and stuff and stamp the envelopes. What a pain. Then I found the NetPost service. I now use it to send out the mass mailings as a double-sided tri-fold mailer. I've cut my costs (printer toner, paper, and envelopes vs. their total charges) and saved myself a ton of time. Included with their service is address standardization and presorting for the cheapest rates. They'll even tell you which addresses can't be standardized for the cheap rates so you can fix them. What I'm mass-mailing is mostly all the same (with one paragraph that varies from one recipient to another). I simply create a PDF of the master document to be mailed along with a comma delimitted file of addresses and custom paragraph info (generated by DP). I upload both, specify a few options (including where on the master document to overlay my custom paragraph), and give my credit card info. Within a few days the order has been printed, processed, and mailed. It's very slick. The link for the NetPost service is on the main http://www.usps.gov website. It's the "Send Cards, Letters, & Flyers" option under the Mailing Tools category. The direct link is: http://www.usps.com/netpost/welcome.htm?from=0001home&page=0129netpostservices It took me a little while to get the hang of how do it, but now my mass-mailouts are fast, easy, and less expensive. I'll never go back to doing it the hard way. Tim Rude ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles G.
