Sheelagh, I'd be glad to offer my help, if no one who is better at it
does. If you want to be able to run things from a menu, you'd likely be
better to get someone else, since all I have done with menus is to try
out one or two to see how they work. It sounds like what you want is
fairly simple:
5 basic data panels:
1. Book Title Abreviations
2. Book titles (& publication data?)
3. Bible book titles
4. Bible texts
5. Commentary texts
Possibly some linking panels
Reports to put out your data in the desired form for WP12.
If you don't get a better offer, send me the material you have, & I'll
see what I can do, as a brother in Christ.

Dear Members,
I started using DataPerfect 2.3 in the early nineties. It was the
database my boss thought best suited to our needs in fundraising. I
worked for a non-profit cultural organization. My boss was the
Director of Fundraising; I was his assistant. In no time we mastered
the programming in these pre-Windows days.
I in turn programmed one for my own personnal use to collect
information on a book I wanted to eventually write.
In July of 1995 I suffered the rupture of a brain aneurysm which left
minimal damage - just enough to be permantly benched. And just enough
to make it almost impossible for me to wrap my brains around
programming any database. I am not an "MSOffice" user. My word
processor remains WordPerfect. I am currently using WP12 for Windows.
I don't want to use ACCESS simply because I can't seem to get my brain
to master it.
I am looking for a kind soul who would be willing to create a very
simple, yet relational database. I need to link abbreviations in the
main panel to the full title of books as well as a link to the names
of the books of the Bible. I am working on an anthology of the Word of
God in someone's writings. I want to have the verse content as well as
that author's commentary about that biblical text.
If there is a kind soul out there who would be interested and has the
time to give me, I would be so grateful. The database I have now is
the one I programmed about 15 yrs ago and is rather complex. The fact
that it is a DOS program makes it a very small file compared to any
other program that is Window's related.
If one is interested I can e-mail the files of the original database -
it is all contained on a floppy - it isn't a big file at all. I simply
cannot start one over. I forget the programming directives from one
minute to another. Programming new reports is an exercise in utter
frustration.
If one of you is willing to help me, please contact me directly and we
can go from there.
