Hi Ed,

Do you want to do this printing directly from DP or through DPSpool? It's
usually possible both ways, but with DPSpool is much easier.

To do so directly from DP, you essentially have to create a file that
contains the printer control codes that generate the graphic. This is
typically created using the 'print-to-file' feature from some other program,
with some judicious editing of the resulting file. Then you include the file
within your DP report using the 'Include File with Filename in RV: n' report
option (Ctrl-F7, 1, D). If you get all of your ducks in a row and haven't
screwed up your file of printer codes, you get the graphic printed along
with your report. But this is a big IF, because it's really easy to screw it
up and you have to have an intimate knowledge of your printer's control code
sequences to do it right. And it will only work on that printer. You won't
be able to change to another type of printer (i.e. switch from an Epson
compatible to a HP Laserjet compatible) without redoing the whole thing.
Also, if you use DPPrint, that adds another whole level of complexity to the
issue. Bottom line - possible but not recommended.

With DPSpool, you simply include a code in your report that specifies the
name of the graphic file (standard BMP, JPG, etc.), where on the page you
want it printed, and how big you want it to be. DPSpool handles the rest.
You don't need to know anything about your printer's control code sequences,
and the report will work on any printer. If you have to do graphics and you
aren't already using DPSpool, this is an excellent reason to begin doing so.
