This is the panel for returning books in my library automation application. When a book is returned they scan the barcode into the one editable field in
the panel.  Then the information such as checkout date, overdue info,
etc shows up. It's then ready right away to accept the next barcode reading
for the next return record.

When there's a line of kids returning books it needs to be as fast and
simple as possible. The user only uses the barcode reader and doesn't need
to even touch the keyboard.  Once in a while the user wants to change the
amount of the overdue fine - for example, if the student had a good excuse for keeping it late. I'm looking for the most efficient way to permit this.


However, now that I think about it, I could just make a report which would
change overdue fines field for a selected record (after a lookup).
