Earl - What kind of printer is it? Many laserjets include the old HPII laserjet emulation with PCL control codes (Brother, Oki, HP) -printer should say that on the box or in manual.. Try Googling your printer and "HPII emulation" to see if it pops up. Most HP laserjets still accept codes for this. Anyway, it's a good sign you at least get 10cpi.
Here's a website with most of the control codes in the table : http://www.dragon-it.co.uk/links/hp_pcl_codes.htm The [ESC] command is the same as <27> EXAMPLE: Try standard HPII printer code for 12 pitch at very top of report in first page header: CTRL-F7->1->B then <27>(s12h If you want 8 lines per inch add this to the end: &l8D. GDI windows printers (MOST of the new laserjets these days) require DPspool which is downloadable from our DP webpage. Most DP users have switched to DPspool since it'll work with any windows laser printer, help section tells you how to put in it's own printer codes. I've spent so much time tweaking HP control codes for reports that I'm still working on switching over to DP Spool 100%, I'm another weekend away from it. You're better off using DPSpool anyway, you'll be stuck with HPII emulation printers forever if you don't. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Earl C. Please excuse if it did appear and I missed it. I have several Dataperfect reports that need to be printed in 12 characters/inch. The default appears to be 10 characters per inch. In the past I used printers that allowed me to set this manually. My new printers do not allow me to make the change manually. Can I imbed the printer code directly in the report form and how and where would I insert the code(s)? Thanks for your help. Earl C. Catron [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cell: 754-234-5671
