During the late 80s into the 90s I used (and loved) DataPerfect. As a DOS database program it was instrumental in helping me resolve some very complex challenges that resulted in catapulting me up the ladder within the company I worked. That being said, if there truly is an issue with the number of "fields" and/or the size of the data files in any DP application, perhaps it's time to move on from DP to something more appropriate for the size and complexity of the data being manipulated in this particular case. Always select the best tool for the job; that doesn't necessarily reflect badly upon the tool not selected, it discloses the good judgment of the person building the application.

After creating the child record through the link (manually filling in the values not carried through the link), upon returning to the parent record and trying to view the related record, the link doesn't know it exists.
