Hi all,

Yes, I am sorry that, when moving from one ISP to another, I lost all of the files in the "compusofl" download area on sanbachs.com. As I get messages from people needing these files, I always refer them to our helpful community. Welcome, Otto.

Zipping is okay for backup, but only if you are very sure that no one is updating the database while you are backing it up. The advantage of DPBACKUP is that it locks the database while it is copying the data files, to ensure the integrity of the backup copies.

For my on-line databases, I always list the last modified date/time of each data file, then do the zipping, and finally check the last modified date/time again. If these have changed for even one data, TXX or IND file, then I do the zipping over again. Without taking this precaution, you risk a corrupted database, should you ever have to restore.

We (the DP development group) once received a defect report for DP from another WordPerfect group that used DP for a very important purpose. Because of the importance, the leader of that group made frequent backup copies of the data files to be safe. Ironically, when he restored from these backup copies (that had been made while the database was active) he caused corruption. This, in part, motivated the creation of DPBACKUP.

Best wishes,
Bruce

Hey there!
I am in need of a version of DPBACKUP to recover data backed up some years ago – I don’t know the exact time when this was done, I just have three files (DPBACKUP.001, DPBACKUP.002 and DPBACKUP.003) and need to extract as much as possible of these – can anyone provide me with a DPBACKUP.EXE that I may try to use?
