Dear All

This may be peanuts to most or all of you (and I was similarly well
versed in this 10 years ago. But for the records here is my simple
bat.file solution to the keyboard problem I had when starting SHELL or
DP in WIN-XP

Echo shell.bat

:

:

c:\windows\system32\kb16 dk,865,c:\windows\system32\keyboard.sys

:

cd \

cd wpl

Echo wpl is my folder for the office files including SHELL

shell.exe

exit

I have just made a shortcut to this batfile and bingo

(those with similar problems in other languages just have to modify they
country identifier after "kb16" and the codepage they call (I presume)

I am happy now (while still waiting for DP for WIN)

Jens

Subject: RE: [Dataperf] DP keyboard problem on XP now solved

Dear all Dataperfecters

My (Jens Hoeg's) little keyboard problem on some of my XP systems is

apparently solved. I probably could have solved it globally via the

Control Panel, Keyboard etc. settings, but the mails just posted onto

the list re similar problems with Belgian keyboards prompted me to try

this (rather than fiddle with my XP settings):

Go to Command line

Go (cd command) to directory "systems32" (to avoid long path names when

trying)

type

(type) KB16 dk, 865, KEYBOARD.SYS (enter)

(865 I remembered was the codepage we normally used under Dos in denmark

in those days)

Now just shift to the DP or SHELL directory

Start DP or SHELL from the command line

And it worked! SHIFT F7 was no longer interpreted as a wrong command

Now I can either modify my autoexec.nt, I presume OR:

I can simply make a bat file with the above commands that start my SHELL

or DP via a shortcut

I think I am saved

Thanks ALL ( I have two other little bugs with DP/SHELL, but they must

wait :-)

A happy Jens Hoeg
