Brian,
Thank you for the reply. I have already tried what you suggested but I
am missing something, and have tried various options and I feel very lost!
These are the steps I used to create the report:
1. The report contains fields for names of client and the type of
problem they are facing (consumer law, employment law, landlord and
tenant and so on) among others
2. There is an index with the type of problem as the first field in the
index
3. The report has a two level report created on the type of problem
4. In the two level footer the type of problem field is added and I used
Ctrl-F7, 5 to get a total for the group
5. Running the report based on 1 to 4, produces for each type of problem
the total (count) number of clients who asked for help, eg
consumer law 3
employment law 4
landlord and tenant 4
6. To get the total (count) number of clients via a report variable the
following was added to the report
(a) First page header: Added report variable 100 containing 0
(b) Report body: Added report variable 100 containing rv100 + 1
(c) Two level footer: Printed report variable 100
7. Adding the elements described in 6 produces the following:
consumer law 3 3 <-----the last number being the printed
result for rv100
employment law 4 7
landlord and tenant 4 11
I have tried so many variations but I am getting nowhere. Help with this
would be really appreciated.
