Hi Laurie,
Its good to see that you alive and kicking. Long time no see. I not really sure about your problem but I can suggest the following. Have yiou tried Shirt F9 from within a Panel, which should prompt you for the definers password if one exists of otherwise it should take you to the System and Recovery Operations menu, where you can set or unset the User ID panel, and also Define Passwords. Additionally the Alt-F8 by design take you to the Menu definer, but Alt-F8 from a Panel take you to the Panel designer menu. Although I hadn't read DP list news for quite a while, when I checked my DP email folder just now, I was happy to see many familiar names from the California DP conference. I haven't done much database designing with DP for quite some time, and now that I am making a little database for something personal, I did something embarrassingly stupid and have shut myself out of all the definer's options to my database. I am hoping someone can tell me what to do to fix it, because I actually had completed a couple of weeks' worth of work before I messed this up, and I don't want to have to start over. After doing quite a bit of other work, I created a panel and designated it as the user ID panel (in order to be able to base reports on it, using a technique I think I learned from Ralph's book). I then designed a menu. What I forgot to do first was create a definer's password. Now I can't get to the definer's menu, which you normally get to by pressing Alt-F8 from the panel list, and then enter the definer's password. Now, if I press Alt-F8 from the panel list, it just takes me to the menu definition screen. I have tried logging in as the definer by just pressing enter at both the user name and password fields, which usually gets you to a definer or supervisor password prompt, but instead this just again takes me to the menu. Is there any help for this (hopefully some very easy fix that I just haven't thought of to try), or have I irreparably messed up my database? Laurie Corvacho
