I could be wrong. To get some idea of Microsoft's direction in this area you could take a look at: http://www.microsoft.com/virtualization/en/us/default.aspx I believe that you will need to look to third party solutions (like DOSbox and VirtualBox etc) to reliably maintain legacy applications. Without knowing exactly what sort of server requirement exist it is difficult to point to appropriate resources, but I do believe that most issues can be solved.
