Weird little things like this always seem to occur until we find out what is actually happening, and then they are not really weird. I have my own set of weird happenings, but I am pretty sure that they stem back to my running DPOrder. I don't think I will get rid of them until I do a complete reconstruction. Which I need to do anyway. 20 years of adding, rearranging, modifying the database has probably left a pretty unsound structure. I think Brian is correct about processor speed not being the problem. Since DP is still a DOS program, it was never written to do all the multiple calls that Windows/Unix/Linux programs use. And the processors originally available for DP weren't all that sophisticated either. I could see where the difference between ::I and ::J might cause a problem, but I don't think Lew would have missed that kind of problem. Remember his story about the network conflict when DP was being used for the WPCorp support database. Where he wanted his version of record locking and the "powers-that-be" wanted the traditional locking method. >Come to think of it Rich, you should know that I have great seats >for Pirates games (I share a pair of season tickets with two other >fellows) and if you ever want to catch a game drop me a line and you >can be my guest. I haven't been to a baseball game since the Washington Senators played at RFK Stadium, 40+ years. >Don Thanks for taking the time to run these tests. The curiosity bump is itching something fierce, and you are very helpful in scratching this itch.
