G'day
I think the format is quite simple for a simple text only email, if you are essentially telnetting into the smtp server or the email client uses the simple smtp formatting. Format it like this: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> From: "YourName" <YourEmail> To: "RecipientName" <RecipientEmail> Cc: "CC nameif applicable" <CCEmail> Date: Fri, 12 Aug 2011 08:12:43 +1000 Subject: Test message The body content goes in here Etc etc . <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Salient points. You might need to add the Helo mailserver.whatever As the first line. >From To and Cc can just be formatted as [email protected] rather than the name format I showed above Cc is optional, just leave the line out Date: can be omitted, or can be shortened, the +1000 is the Australian offset from UMT, for say New York it would be -0500, I think you can use the international time code eg AEST for Australian Eastern Standard Time After Subject there is a totally blank line, no spaces, just CRLF or perhaps just CR or LF The content continues with line breaks as required, for as long as required. The last line of the message is a bare full stop (period) However, must depends on the client software you are using as to the formats it needs and how to set it up to connect to your outgoing mail server. Just check its manual for any quirks.
