BerichtPeter,

A CSV import is going to be your best method coming from Excel. If you're not
getting good results you probably just aren't doing it right. :)

Here are the simple steps to follow:
1.. Save the Excel spreadsheet as a CSV file. Remember to save it with a
short filename (8.3 format) to make it easier for DP to work with. It's also
easiest to save it into the folder where your DP database is, to make it easier
for DP to find it.
2.. Make a backup copy of your DP database so that if you screw up the import
you haven't hosed your data.
3.. Did you make the backup? If not, go back to step 2. I'm not kidding. This
is important.
4.. Decide which fields in the DP database should correspond to the fields in
your CSV file.
5.. In DP, from the panel you wish to import into, press Ctrl-F5 to display
the Import menu. For option 1, specify the name of your CSV file.
6.. Press 3 to set your Import Type to DOS Delimited Text. When prompted for
the Field Delimiter, press comma. When prompted for the Record Delimiter, press
the space bar. (The display will show <CR><LF>.)
7.. Now press 7 to Create/Edit Import List. Tab around in your panel,
selecting fields in the correct order to correspond with the layout of your CSV
file. If you have an unneeded field in the CSV file, press 1 to skip it and go
on to the next. If you make a mistake while setting up the Import List, press 2
to start over.
8.. Once you have Import List setup so the CSV fields will fall into the
correct fields on your DP panel, press 0 to exit back to the Import Menu.
9.. Press 8 to import the file.
10.. Check the imported data to see if you're happy with the result.
I've imported hundreds of CSV files into DP over the years using this method
and it works great.

Subject: [Dataperf] how to import from an exel 2007-2010 file?

  Dear All,

I'm having troubles to get data imported into DP2.6.
  '
It's from an simple XL list, which contains less fields than the target
panel. One field on the target panel is auto incrementing.

In what format and shape can I best save the data from XL to be able to
import? Both txt and csv give no good results.

Any suggestions / help is very welcome.

  Thanks in advance
  Met vriendelijke groet,

  Peter Boekestijn
