Hi All, Don't use DPMouse but other parts of this discussion piqued my interest. FWIW
I have a shortcut in startup menu for each Database (we have around 10l) which points to a batch file in directory d:\batch. D:/batch contains several batch files - one for each database we use. Example of a startup batch file is: @echo off cd\orders dp/F5/d-c:\docume~1\%username%\dptemp\ cd\ The /F5 switch allows access to all Child records as per Lew's change after Conference 2004 The Order Dir contains all files relating to that particular database (and only that database.) The dptemp files are user specific - simply so I can see who is not exiting DP correctly when the *.tmp files accumulate there - or used to :-) Under Control Panel - System - Environment variables - I simply have added to the path ;D:\dp26x;C:\Program Files\Tame 6.0 Have run it this way for Windows NT, XP (single user) and now Server 2003. Works great. Can have multiple copies loaded per user. Usually 8 - 10 copies each user. Speed is instant - faster than you can fill in the fields. Is the above, roughly the setup most are using? When there's talk of Dos boxes etc - you lose me completely. I'm yet to experiment with DP on Win 7. have both x32 and x64 at home - I'll now have to have a play around with both, but I'd expect to have issues with x64. I tend to now use Ralph's recursive link in most databases so will ensure that's what I use when testing. Will report back how we get on. I have not tried a databse with an incrementing field, yet. But perhaps a work around would be Ralph Alvy's recursive link, which is supposed to be better for most purposes. Although I might not have needed it. I initially installed DP in the XPM window, but somehow got a shortcut on the Win 7 desktop. It worked just fine. On the DPMouse problem, I think I found the cause. On page 20 of the manual, Application Layout Restrictions, the first line states: "Field boundaries must be discernable when the "cursor" lands on the field." And it is bolded. Well, the background color for bold/underline was the same as the field edit background, and apparently, DPMouse couldn't determine where the field boundary was. I changed the field edit background to a different color and even with the underlined label, the check box worked. I had been looking in the wrong section of the manual, so when I started at the beginning... Rich At 11:01 AM 2/14/2012, you wrote: What's incremental field code? How do you run DP on Win7 at all? I thought it couldn't be done unless you're either using a virtual XP window for it, or using DOSBox without the ability to print from it. _______________________________________________ Dataperf mailing list [email protected] http://lists.dataperfect.nl/mailman/listinfo/dataperf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Dataperf mailing list [email protected] http://lists.dataperfect.nl/mailman/listinfo/dataperf
