Hello,

Has anyone have experience with the D-Fend-Reloaded/DosBox
while running DataPerfect DP2.6Y applications?

The scenario is as follows:
- DP2.6Y application runs within workgroup of the Microsoft Network on
PC-WindowsXP, PC-Windows7-32bit and now/recently on PC-Windows7-64bit
workstations (by D-Fend-Reloaded/DosBox gateway)
- *.DAT files are on the PC-WindowsXP

There is no problem with workstations running under PC-WindowsXP and
PC-Windows7-32bit.

There is a little/big problem with workstations running under
PC-Windows7-64bit. This problem concerns field values displayed after SAVE
command (2xF10).

*Record field values saved after 2xF10 are visible on other workstations:*

a) at once for PC-WindowsXP and PC-Windows7-32bit workstations. No need to
take any actions to see the changes. "at once" means about 40-45 sec in my
network.

b) 2xF10 changes made on/by the PC-WindowsXP can be visible on other
PC-Windows7-64bit workstations only if you re-enter *.DAT file on these
PC-64bit (e.g. Exit to panel list or exit/re-enter from the database
completly).

c) 2xF10 changes made on/by the PC-Windows-64bit...

*...strange things can happen in this black forrest...*
- to see changes elsewhere you must exit DataPerfect application on
PC-Windows-64 completly. no guarantee.

- sometimes there is a lost of the field value you can see on PC-XP and
PC-32 workstations (but .DAT fille has this value and shows it after
exit/re-enter)

- once encontered the following message:
The above file had an error in its free space array. If i was the .STR
file,
use DPEXP to export the structure and DPIMP to import it. If the .TXX file,
export all files, erase the database files except for the .STR file, and
reimport the data. Please press F3 to see additional help for this.
After F3:
You have encountered a data consistency errror but you should be able to
recover. The cause of the error is inconsistency encountered in the
reclamation of space in one of the text files. The program has corrected
the inconsistency and you sholud have no data loss.

In fact, changes made by PC-Windows7-64bit workstation were saved to .DAT
file.

So, for the present moment I can suggest to my DataPerfect users not to
enter/edit any data if working under PC-Windows7-64bit (only to see data
values).

*This problem probably can be resolved by changing one or more
D-Fend-Reloaded/DosBox (cache?) parameters - which one? :)or there is
another/simpler way maybe?*

Similiar problem will probably arise when PC-Windows-64bit workstation will
attempt to create records with ::J field indicators, I think (but I've not
tested this).

Please help, if you can suggest solution.

Pozdrawiam,
Piotr Barancewicz

P.S. D-Fend-Reloaded/DosBox version 1.3.5
