Dear ALL

Thank you all that replied so swiftly to my problem with Dataperfect files
(Yes, the DP group is famed for that!)

I shall not reply in detail to each of you so just briefly

YES - I could import seamlessly the PLN files directly into wp 5.1. on my 32
bit PC. Oh that was a relief. (In fact, I am sure it works also under Vdos on
the 64 bit machines but I have not extensively tested that "Dos system yet"
Most of you seem to fancy it a lot.)

BUT - I of course then saved the WP files and reimported them in WORD. That
went partially bad. Because the multi column Table in WP 5.1. that resulted
from the PLN import was "amputated" when in WORD. Not all columns were there
and formatting was kind of screwed.

WELL - There may be workarounds, but I simply decided to use the Table editing
function in WP 5.1 and edit the table down to fewer columns (the import into
WORD also did not like "merged cells" so that I circumvented also in the WP
file). So bit by bit I could import all columns safely into Word and there
merge them back into one table again.

SO - It might have been easier just to view the rather small files in WP and
then write them down and retype them. But there is a full digital solution as
you see although a bit round about.
One problem that persistently occurred was that the right most column "hits"
the right margin with no free space and is partially invisible (I have seen
almost the same with large tables in WORD per se). But my "column per column"
procedure worked. I am just glad I have only 4 rather small Tables with
scientific data I need to convert int "the modern world".

I now I see belatedly - "irony is it not" that I do indeed have the PL.EXE. It
has hidden itself in my WP directory, not in the WP office one where I expected
it to be, But, it was indeed easier just to go through WP, for one quick test
showed that PL.EXE could not export all its "formulas" to e.g. Lotus format, so
exporting to another spreadsheet format from old archaeic PL probably was a "no
go". I shall now let PL.EXE have a quiet life on my harddisk, hoping never to
use it again.

End report and hoping none of you need to fiddle with such like :-)

Subject: Re: [Dataperf] Help neded with WP Corp PlanPerfect file conversion

Dear Jens,

The possibility to help you consists of two items:
- Either I will send you the program --> beware of the fact that you have to
run it under windows 32 bits !!
- Or I will convert it for you --> I still have an OS 32 bits running with
planperfect. In that case: send it as a ZIP, with your wishes.
Plaese let me know your choice.

Best regards

Dear ALL

I know this is a bit off the subject of this discussion grop but nevertheless:
Some of you undoubtedly remember the Planperfect program which was WP Corps
spreadsheet that could operate under WP Office (as did Dataperfect) or as
stand alone software.
I used to have Planperfect on floppy disks somewhere, but they seem to have
been lost and I cannot find the software free anywhere on the net.
My problem is I have a few non-sensitive files I would like to covert either
into a WP table in a text file (or into Word as Table) or into an Excell
spreadsheet file (either will work, I just need to see the data, not the
formulae that may be there).

Can any of you suggest a solution? Might any of you still have a Planperfect
that runs and might you then convert my files (as told only about 5 small ones).

I hope somebody can come up with a suggestion....

Best regards

Jens
